Commercial operations started for 112 MW offshore wind farm in Hokkaido

JERA Co., Inc. and Green Power Investment Corporation (GPI) have begun operations at the 112 MW Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind farm in Hokkaido, Japan.

Situated in Hokkaido's Ishikari Bay New Port, the wind farm is equipped with 14 wind turbines manufactured by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, each boasting an output of 8,000 kW, resulting in a total output of 112,000 kW. Kajima Corporation handled onshore construction, while offshore construction was undertaken through a collaboration between Shimizu Corporation and Nippon Steel Engineering Co., Ltd. All generated electricity will be supplied to Hokkaido Electric Power Network, Inc. (HEPN) following its transmission through a project transformer substation featuring 180,000 kWh of battery storage capacity, and subsequently, through HEPN's Nishi Sapporo Substation.
