Total Eren SA has acquired 50% stake in the 190 MWp Santa Isabel solar photovoltaic project from SunPower Corp. The Santa Isabel solar park is located in the municipality of Maria Elena, Antofagasta region, Chile.
The project has a total investment of about US$200 million and features SunPower’s solar modules from the Performance Series (P-Series), expected to generate electicity of about 500 GWh per year. It is scheduled to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Santa Isabel has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Chilean utility Colbun SA, in May 2016. And in August 2019, Sterling and Wilson Solar Limited has engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.
The Santa Isabel project can be extended to include a further 280 MWp of capacity, currently under permitting. Total Eren said it intends to develop the extensions, which are currently being negotiated to enter into new private PPAs.
