OPDEnergy begins its activity in wind energy with the construction of a wind farm in the town of La Estrella, located in the O’Higgins region, Chile.
The project will have an installed capacity of 50 MW, with a total of 11 wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa. Specifically, the SG 4.5-145 turbines are the first of this range to be installed in the local project.
It is planned that the energy generated by the La Estrella wind farm will be fed into the National Electricity System (SEN) through a switching substation in the high voltage line named Quelentaro – Portezuelo. The plant will be able to generate energy for more than 73,000 homes per year and will contribute to diversifying the country’s energy matrix.
Construction works are expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2020.
