AES Gener, a unit of AES Corporation, has entered into an agreement with the Chilean subsidiaries of Colombia's Empresas Públicas Medellín (EPM), for the acquisition of the Los Cururos Wind Farm and the La Cebada substation for a total consideration of US$138 million.
The 109.6 MW wind project is developed in the Coquimbo Region of northern Chile. It is split across two adjacent sites: "Pacífico", a 600-hectare site which contains 36 turbines with 68.2 MW installed capacity, and "La Cebada", where 21 turbines with 41.4 MW total generating capacity are installed over a 916-hectare area. The wind farm also features the La Cebada substation.
