EIG Global Energy Partners, through its Chilean concentrated solar power developer unit Cerro Dominador, has completed the acquisition of the 450 MW concentrated solar project from SolarReserve.
The Solar Likana Solar Power Concentration Plant is located in Llano de Quimal sector, 41 km southeast of Calama in the Antofagasta Region in Chile. The project represents a total investment of about US$2.4 billion.
The solar plant consists of three units called LIK 1, LIK 2 and LIK 3, each of which consists of a solar thermal generator of central tower solar concentration technology.
The project has already secured an Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) approval commencing its construction. Commissioning is expected to be done by 2020.
