OMV and VERBUND have commissioned the further expansion of the ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) plant located in Lower Austria. Both OMV and Verbund have an equal amount of investment in this shared venture.

During the first phase of expansion, a total of 34,600 east-west facing PV modules generated 12.10 GWh of solar electricity which is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 3,400 households. An additional 8,568 photovoltaic modules are added to the plant, raising the total capacity to 15.32 MWp and the amount of power generated of 15.84 GWh.

The project was constructed on a landfill site owned by OMV in Schoenkirchen.
