Verbund Green Power Iberia and Capital Energy have commissioned the 39 MW Loma de los Pinos onshore wind project in Lebrija, Spain. With a long-term power purchase agreement signed with Statkraft, the wind farm will have seven turbines manufactured by General Electric and be capable of producing 100,000 MWh of renewable energy each year. Avoiding the emission of more than 35,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, this is equivalent to the power consumption of over 36,000 Andalusian homes.
The two companies have announced their commitment to socioeconomic development in regions where they operate, demonstrated through the execution of a collaboration agreement with the Lebrija City Council to support the Capital Energy Territories Project and the Verbund Green Power Iberia Local Impact Plan.
The Loma de los Pinos wind farm marks the first of the three planned wind farms by Verbund and Capital Energy. Verbund holds 70% of the capital of these facilities, with the remaining 30% held by Capital Energy, all expected to begin generating energy this year in Andalusia.
