Atlantic Copper has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Capital Energy for its 41 MW solar project to power its copper refinery located in Huelva, southern Spain, beginning in 2025.
The solar farm associated with the PPA will be situated in Teba, a town in Malaga province. Capital Energy recently received the required environmental approval for the new solar project.
The agreement with Capital Energy will assist Atlantic Copper in increasing the amount of direct renewable energy purchases from its current level of 30% to 42%. With the new agreement in place, Atlantic Copper will be well-positioned to meet its energy demands while reducing its carbon footprint.
