ENGIE has inaugurated the largest agrovoltaic park in Italy, with a total production capacity of 66 MW Peak (50 MWac). The park, which combines solar panels and agriculture farming, is located between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo in Sicily, Italy and is expected to provide renewable energy to power Amazon’s operations in the country.
This is the first agrovoltaic project in Italy to be developed on the basis of a corporate Power Purchase Agreement contract between two private companies. The project was announced in 2021 and covers an area of 115 ha.
By using the park to generate renewable energy, ENGIE is helping to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable energy use. The company is committed to investing in renewable energy projects and believes that agrovoltaic projects such as this one have significant potential to transform the energy landscape in Italy and around the world.
