Sonnedix and Statkraft have entered into a 10-year solar power purchase agreement (PPA) for a new solar project portfolio in Italy. The agreement is for the combined output of two solar photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 34 MWp, with the plants producing a combined 48 GWh/year of green electricity, which can power more than 18,000 Italian homes with clean electricity. This is the second collaboration for the companies in Italy and the third in Europe.
The two plants are being constructed in the Lazio region of west-central Italy and are expected to help avoid more than 12,000 tons of CO2 emissions. The PPA would enable Sonnedix to supply Statkraft with green energy eliminating any risks associated with the energy market. Sonnedix was advised by Our New Energy (ONE) for this transaction.
This solar portfolio would expand the renewable energy production capabilities of Italy and would help achieve the European Union's renewable energy targets.
