Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced that it has expanded a 9-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with ERG. This is part of TIM's push towards clean energy, and the new agreement will add 200 GWh of energy annually, exclusively from ERG's renewable power plants. Under this agreement and the existing one, TIM's agreements with renewable energy suppliers will now account for more than a third (34%) of its energy purchases in Italy.
Currently, TIM is the second-largest energy consumer in Italy and had covered 46% of its domestic energy consumption from renewable sources as of December. The company is proactively shifting toward green energy and aiming to fully rely on it by 2025.
ERG SpA generates energy mostly from wind, solar, hydroelectric, and thermoelectric sources. The company operates in Italy, with a significant and growing presence in France, the UK, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Romania, and Bulgaria.
