Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. has announced the commencement of the commissioning process for the world's first grid-scale EVx™ gravity energy storage system (GESS) located near Shanghai in Rudong, Jiangsu Province, China.
Designed with a capacity of 25 MW/100 MWh, the EVx GESS stands adjacent to a wind farm and a national grid interconnection site. Its primary objective is to augment China's national energy grid by storing and delivering renewable energy. By Q4, the system is set to achieve full grid interconnectivity with local state grid authorities, establishing EVx as the world's inaugural commercial utility-scale non-pumped hydrogravity energy storage system.
The deployment of the EVx GESS signifies a significant step towards a greener, more sustainable energy future. By harnessing the power of gravity, Energy Vault's innovative technology enables the effective storage and distribution of renewable energy resources.
