Atlas Renewable Energy has completed the construction of two PV plants– the Lar do Sol and the Casablanca facilities situated in Pirapora, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The combined capacity of the projects is around 600 MW. The Lar do Sol solar plant, generating 239 MW, will provide power to Unipar and received a BRL 407 million (US$80.6 million) loan from Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNB).
Meanwhile, the Casablanca solar plant, with an installed capacity of 359 MW, is currently supplying power to Anglo American under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with Atlas Renewable Energy. The funding for this project was secured through a EUR150 million (US$158.4 million) loan from IDB Invest in 2021.
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MMA) relaunched the National Fund on Climate Change.
