Energie Steiermark has started the commercial operation of the 17.2 MW solar photovoltaic project located in about 21 ha of land on a former coal mine in the municipalities of Baernbach and Rosental, Western Styria, Austria.
The project represents about EUR12 million (US$12.64 million) of investment. The plant is expected to generate a total of 18 million kWh of energy per year.
Energie Steiermark is the fourth-largest energy and service company in Austria. The company supplies electricity, gas, and heat with its operations focusing on the province of Styria.
