BayWa r.e. has started the construction of the 24.5 MW Grafenwörth solar photovoltaic (PV) project located on an artificial lake in the namesake municipality of Tulln, the largest floating solar farm in Austria.

ECOwind Handels – & Wartungs, a unit of BayWa, has partnered with Lower Austria’s energy supplier EVN, in developing the solar PV facility that is designed to produce enough energy supply for up to 7,500 Austrian households. The project is expected to be operational by 2023.

Once commissioned, the project will be one of the largest floating solar farms in Europe.
