The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted Osterreichische Bundesforste AG a loan to support the construction of four additional wind turbines to increase the capacity of the 42 MW Pretul wind project in Styria, Austria. The new turbines will increase the wind farm's capacity by 16.6 MW. The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR21 million (US$20.8 million).
An initial loan of EUR36.7 million (US$36.5 million) was awarded by EIB in 2015 for the building of the Pretul wind farm consisting of 14 wind turbines with an output of 3 MW each and a 7 km line linking them to an existing electrical substation. The project has been in operation since 2017.
The EIB financing will be provided in conjunction with Raiffeisenlandesbank Oberösterreich.
