Enel Green Power (EGP) has started the construction of its 99 MW El Manzano solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Tiltil, Chile. The new plant, spanning 185 hectares, is equipped with a battery system for energy storage. This new plant can generate approximately 226 GWh of 100% clean energy annually, which will be added to the National Electrical System (SEN). The El Manzano plant can also prevent over 178,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
The new plant is expected to provide energy to around 75,000 Chilean homes yearly. The project is equipped with 162,000 bifacial monocrystalline solar panels, with a wattage capacity of 615 W and 610 W.
The El Manzano solar PV project is a significant addition to EGP's renewable energy portfolio. This development demonstrates the potential of renewable energy sources in mitigating climate change while also meeting growing energy demand.
