Enel Green Power (EGP) has commissioned the 10.8 MW La Colonia solar photovoltaic (PV) project in the Chilean town of Buin.
With a US$7.7 million investment, the solar farm's 23,490 PV panels of 460 Wp each will generate 23,550 MWh yearly, enough to power around 10,000 Chilean households.
The solar modules are of the bifacial kind, which is a solar generation technique that captures solar radiation more efficiently by utilizing both sides of the panel. EGP considered adding tracking systems as well. By monitoring the sun during the day, this tracking system enables for more production over longer time periods.
