Renewables developer Enel Green Power has confirmed that its 34.2 MW Cohuna Solar Farm has resumed partial operations after being forced to shut down following a grassfire at the site in Victoria, Australia.
The farm is composed of around 87,000 bifacial modules and is expected to generate up to 77 GWh/year energy, which is equivalent to avoiding the emission of around 71,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
Energy Safe Victoria (ESV), the technical regulatory body overseeing the safe generation, supply, and utilization of electricity, gas, and pipelines in Victoria, issued a directive to the solar farm operator. This directive was in response to a grassfire covering an area of 3 to 4 ha at the 82-ha site in November 2023. As a result, the solar farm is presently functioning at around 75% capacity and is in the process of gradually increasing its generation to reach full capacity.
