EnBW and Equinor have announced their collaboration to develop new offshore wind capacity in German waters.
EnBW is a major energy supplier in Germany and Europe, with a workforce of approximately 26,000 employees. Its services include the provision of electricity, gas, water, and related products and infrastructure to about 5.5 million customers. The company has set a target to have 50% of its generating portfolio composed of installed renewable energy capacity by the end of 2025, which has already resulted in a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. EnBW is also committed to reducing its CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2035.
Equinor has a strong presence in the North Sea and Baltic region, with operational and developing offshore wind farms in Germany, the UK, Poland, and Norway. The company has announced a goal to increase its renewable energy capacity to 12-16 GW by 2030, with a significant proportion of this coming from the North and Baltic Seas. Norway and Germany have recently announced their collaboration to create large-scale value chains for low-carbon hydrogen.
