Parkwind has announced that its 257 MW Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm in the German Baltic Sea has begun generating electricity. Together with the transmission system operator (TSO) 50Hertz, Parkwind is connecting the offshore wind farm to the grid following the activation of the first group of turbines on January, 12.
The construction of the wind farm began in June 2022, with the crane vessel Thialf installing the first of 27 Vestas V174-9.5 MW turbines in November 2022 at the Baltic Sea site, located northeast of the island of Rügen.
Upon completion later this year, the offshore wind farm is projected to generate enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 300,000 German households.
