EnBW has opened an 80MW solar farm that is set to generate electricity for around 30,000 households in Germany.
The Langenenslingen solar facility is the largest photovoltaic installation ever developed in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Located in the Biberach district, the plant has been supplying solar energy to the regional high-voltage grid since May 2025. The project can generate around 90 million kilowatt hours per year – equivalent to the annual consumption of around 30,000 households. The solar park is also expected to avoid around 60,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year compared to conventional power generation.
The construction phase of the plant, with its 146,016 modules, took just over a year. The original estimated costs for the multi-million-euro project were undercut by around 10%.
