Companhia Energetica de Sao Paulo (CESP) has started the commercial operation of the 500 kW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant located next to the 1,540-MW Porto Primavera hydropower complex in Rosana municipality, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The concentrated solar plant has required an investment of BRL57 million (US$11.81 million). The project is expected to generate enough electricity to meet the demand of 360 homes.
The project is developed under a research and development (R&D) program dedicated to the solar thermal power source and regulated by Aneel.
