YPF Luz will supply 15.9 MW of wind power to Toyota's factory in the Argentine town of Zarate, Buenos Aires province, during a period of 10 years.
The power will come from two wind parks currently under construction. The first stage will cover 25% of the agreed amount, while the 100% demand will be delivered in the second stage, begining in 2020. The power will come from YPF Luz’s 100 MW Manantiales Behr and 122 MW Los Teros wind farms. Manantiales Behr is expected to start production in the coming weeks and Los Teros is estimated to be operational by late 2019.
The total generation is equivalent to 76,000 MWh per year, enough to meet the consumption of 21,111 homes. It is estimated that the glass plant will avoid the emission of around 40,660 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
