YPF Luz has successfully brought into operation the first 100 MW of the El Quemado Solar Park, located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. With the first phase now in operation, YPF Luz has doubled its installed solar capacity to 200 MW, further consolidating its role in Argentina’s renewable energy sector. El Quemado has obtained commercial operation approval from CAMMESA, verifying that the initial 100 MW are fully operational and that the power produced is now being delivered into the Argentine Interconnected System (SADI), the country’s national electricity network.
Once fully completed, the solar park will reach a total installed capacity of 305 MW, will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of more than 233,000 Argentine households. The remaining capacity will be commissioned in stages, with full commercial operation expected during the first half of 2026. The project involves an estimated investment of USD 210 million and has already surpassed 80% completion. This construction milestone comes after the successful completion of all required technical and functional testing ahead of commercial operation. In early December 2025, the project was energised when the new El Quemado transformer substation was connected to the national grid, signalling the beginning of the commissioning stage.
