Argentine energy company Genneia has announced the start of commercial operations of the 180 MW Anchoris solar farm located on 395 hectares along National Route 40 in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza province.

With an investment of US$160 million, Anchoris has an installed capacity of 180 MW and uses 360,000 bifacial solar modules. This is the second solar project to be launched in the aforementioned province, with production geared toward meeting the demand of large industrial users through the Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER).

In July 2024, Argentina’s National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) approved an expansion of the photovoltaic park’s capacity from 115 MW to 180 MW. Earlier, in March 2025, the regulator had authorized an increase from 21.3 MW to 115 MW. With the launch of Anchoris, Genneia’s solar portfolio in the Cuyo region now includes the Ullum, Sierras de Ullum, Tocota III, and Malargüe I solar parks, bringing the region’s total installed solar capacity to 490 MW. The company is also developing the 180 MW San Rafael solar project in Mendoza and the 130 MW San Juan Sur project in San Juan, aiming to boost its Cuyo solar capacity to nearly 800 MW by 2026.

Under its 2022–2026 investment plan, Genneia expects to allocate around $900 million to renewable energy projects. This portfolio includes the previously mentioned solar farms as well as the La Elbita wind farm in Buenos Aires Province. The company’s current installed renewable capacity stands at over 1,250 MW—comprising 945 MW from wind power and 490 MW from solar. By 2026, Genneia anticipates exceeding 1,700 MW of total capacity. Energy from Anchoris and other developments will primarily serve corporate clients across various industries through Argentina’s Renewable Energy Futures Market (MATER) framework.
