Co-op and Voltalia jointly announced the signing of a 15-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (Corporate PPA) for the entire output of the 34 MW Eastgate solar farm located in North Yorkshire, UK.
Under the terms of this agreement, Co-op will secure electricity for its various facilities, encompassing food stores, distribution centers, and Funeralcare homes across the UK, spanning a 15-year timeframe. The source of this electricity will be Voltalia’s Eastgate Solar project near Scarborough, anticipated to be fully operational in 2025. Initial construction activities have commenced at the farm, which, upon completion, will incorporate a total of 62,500 solar panels. At peak performance, these panels will contribute sufficient electricity to cover up to 7.5% of Co-op’s total annual electricity requirements. Over the course of a year, they are projected to generate approximately 34,000 MWh, powering over 170 Co-op Food Stores, 500 Co-op Funeralcare homes, or providing electricity for around 12,500 UK homes.
