The consortium Buchan Offshore Wind has completed its offshore site investigations for its 1 GW floating wind project off the northeast coast of Scotland.
The survey campaign aimed to identify and quantify the geotechnical and environmental characteristics of both the development site and the export cable route. Utilizing the Normand Superior vessel, Ocean Infinity conducted cone penetration tests on the wind farm site as part of the survey. The Buchan floating wind scheme is slated for construction in the NE8 lease area, approximately 45 miles northeast of Fraserburgh. The gathered findings will undergo assessment and play a crucial role in supporting the development of the project's design and environmental evaluation.
The consortium overseeing Buchan, known as the Floating Energy Alliance, comprises BayWa r.e. based in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Belgian offshore wind developer Elicio, and floating wind technology developer BW Ideol.
