RES has submitted a Section 36 planning application for its 19-turbine Longcroft Wind Farm proposal, located approximately 9 km north of Lauder in the Scottish Borders, UK.
The project is also expected to generate around GBP 6.3 million (USD 7.9 million) in local investment during its expected 16-month construction period, as well as GBP 65 million (USD 80.6 Million) in business rates to the Scottish Borders Council throughout its lifetime. The project will help Scotland achieve its goal of getting 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
The wind farm will consist of 19 Vestas V150-6.0 MW wind turbines with a rotor diameter of 150 m and a hub height of 115 m. The turbines will be installed on steel towers and will be connected to the grid via a new 12 km long transmission line.
