Taiyo Power & Storage, a joint venture between Kajima Partnership and Low Carbon Alliance, has secured planning permission for a 9MWp extension to the Moss Farm solar project in Sefton, Merseyside, UK.
The project will supply renewable electricity to over 6,000 households, thereby reducing carbon emissions and enhancing the region’s energy resilience. It is part of a broader Taiyo initiative to develop around 22 MWp of renewable capacity across neighboring sites, including areas on a reclaimed landfill west of the A565. By utilizing low-grade agricultural land, the scheme minimizes its visual impact on the surrounding landscape. The approved 40-year planning consent also incorporates ecological enhancements such as meadow grassland and hedgerow planting, resulting in a biodiversity net gain of 133.85%.
According to the company, these improvements will support wildlife, strengthen green corridors and contribute to Sefton’s environmental targets. Since launching in 2021, Taiyo has built a portfolio of ground-mounted solar and battery energy storage facilities across the UK.
