RWE has started the construction of the new 28.5 MW Bartelsdorf 2 onshore wind farm project in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in Lower Saxony, Germany.
The development will increase the current number of turbines in the Bartelsdorf wind farm, which is situated between Bremen and Hamburg, by five Nordex turbines, bringing the total number to 21. The total capacity will rise by 28.5 MW to 60.5 MW which would produce enough green electricity to power more than 38,000 homes.
The turbines, with a hub height of 164 m, are expected to start operation in 2023. The Federal Network Agency had approved the proposal in March 2022.
