Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES Group) has submitted a planning application for a new wind project with an energy storage facility in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The proposed project will feature 12 turbines located near the townlands of Carnbuck, Magheraboy, and Moneyneagh, and adjacent to the existing Gruig wind farm. The facility will have a generating capacity of nearly 50 MW and be capable of supplying power to around 55,000 households. RES Group has designed the site layout after incorporating technical and environmental feedback from the community, key consultees, and industry experts.

The energy storage capacity will ensure that the project can provide a constant electricity supply throughout Northern Ireland. The company has allocated approximately GBP65 million (US$81.3 million) for developing the project, with almost GBP 30 million (US$37.53 million) being realized within the economy of Northern Ireland.

With proper execution, the project will have significant benefits for local households, while also contributing to Northern Ireland's goal of achieving 70% renewable energy by 2030.
