Neoenergia has won two lots in a transmission line auction held by National Electricity Agency (Aneel) in Brazil.
The two projects will cost about BRL 5.5 billion (US$ 1 billion) and provide more than 11,000 jobs during the construction. One of the projects involves installing 1,707km of transmission lines between the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo. It will feature three 500kV lines and one 440kV line, as well as a new 500kV New Bridge III substation. The transmission lines are scheduled to be operational within 60 months from when the concession contract is signed on September 30, 2022.
Neoenergia has also won a smaller contract, which will involve the delivery of 291 km of lines in nine municipalities in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. This will include two 230kV lines and sections and a 230/138kV Paraíso 2 – 2×150 MVA substation. The works under this project will integrate three small hydroelectric power plants and are expected to be completed within 48 months.
