Veolia has started the development of a BRL400 million (US$76.9 million) biomass-fired facility at the Marechal Deodoro industrial hub in Alagoas state, Brazil.
The project will supply steam to Braskem SA, a producer of thermoplastic resin. The plant will be operational 24/7 and will comprise four industrial boilers.
Veolia will provide steam from the biomass-based plant for 20 years. The facility is expected to start commercial operation between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. Veolia will also be in charge of the plant's construction as well as its operation and maintenance (O&M).
