Regional officials in eastern German Cottbus have passed a statute resolution authorizing the construction of a 21 MW floating solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant on the artificial Cottbus Ostsee lake, a former open-pit lignite mine, in Germany.
The developers of the floating PV system, Leag and EP New Energies (EPNE), intend to submit a planning application before the end of the year. Next spring, once the building permit has been granted, the mooring and anchor system could be installed.
Wind turbines and seawater heat pumps may be added to the project in the future.
