Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG (LEAG) has secured planning approval under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) its proposed 100 MW wind farm that will be located in Lusatia near the town of Forst (Lausitz) on a recultivation area of the Jänschwalde opencast mine in Germany. The project is being developed and built by EP New Energies GmbH (EPNE) on behalf of LEAG.
The recultivation area of around 320 hectares on which Forst-Briesnig II is to be built is under the responsibility of LEAG under the mining law. It is currently being manufactured together with ARGE Heinersbrück for agricultural use. In addition to agricultural use, the areas are to be used for generating renewable energy.
Commissioning of the Forst-Briesnig II wind farm is planned for 2025. The wind farm will then go online with a capacity with which it can feed around 270,000 MWh of electricity per year.
