HIF Chile and Enel Green Power Chile (EGP) have submitted the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) to the Environmental Assessment Service in Chile for the development of the 325 MW Faro del Sur wind farm project located in the Magallanes and Antarctic Region of Chile.
The project will require an investment of US$500 million. A radar-assisted wind turbine arrest system will be considered as an additional protection feature of the machines. The project will have 65 wind turbines and a possible 12.1-km 33kV underground transmission line. This would make it possible for the eFuel plant that HIF Chile plans to construct in Punta Arenas, which is located to the north of the Cabo Negro industrial zone, to be powered by renewable energy.
It is anticipated that the building of the wind farm will take around twenty-four months, with the time needed to acquire the Environmental Qualification Resolution factored in.
