Gentari has completed its acquisition of Wirsol Energy, a company that has been operating in the Australian market since 2017, for a sum of less than AUD1 billion (US$687.9 million).
Wirsol Energy owns and manages a portfolio of 422 MW of solar and storage projects currently in operation, as well as almost twice that amount in development, across various Australian states, including New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. Gentari's acquisition of Wirsol Energy's portfolio signifies the company's entrance into the Australian renewable energy market. It is also a major step towards their goal of attaining 30 to 40 GW in renewable energy capacity by 2030, which would boost their total renewables portfolio to approximately 1.6 GW of installed capacity across Malaysia, India, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.
In addition, Gentari has announced plans to increase its solar capacity and battery energy storage capabilities, as well as establish itself as a green hydrogen producer, with a strategic focus on the Australian market to achieve these objectives.
