Gentari, the renewable energy arm of Malaysia’s Petronas and Amazon Web Services (AWS), has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for an 80MW wind power project in Tamil Nadu, India.
Building on a 2023 collaboration agreement with AWS, this PPA represents a tangible move toward their joint goal of deploying new, cost-efficient, utility-scale renewable energy projects. Scheduled to begin operations in mid-2027, the wind farm is projected to produce roughly 300,000 MWh of clean electricity each year. By delivering this renewable supply, Gentari is driving its mission to turn clean energy into reality, while helping AWS progress toward its commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
The Karur region is a significant wind energy hub: nearby projects include 100.8 MW by Everrenew and 198 MW by Tata Power. A separate Adani Karur Transmission project is designed to transport up to 2.5 GW of power from the zone.
