Reliance Power, through its subsidiary Reliance NU Suntech, has announced plans to develop a 930 MW AC solar project integrated with a 465 MW/1,860 MWh battery energy storage system.

This initiative, secured via a 25-year power purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), aims to deliver four hours of assured peak power daily at a fixed tariff of INR 3.53 ($0.042) per kWh. To fulfill the 930 MW AC capacity, the project entails a capital investment of INR 10,000 crore (US$ 1.1 billion) and will deploy over 1,700 MWp of solar generation capacity, making it Asia’s largest single-location integrated solar and storage project. Reliance NU Suntech secured this project in SECI’s Tranche XVII auction, which attracted five major bidders for 2 GW of ISTS-connected solar and 1 GW/4 GWh of battery storage capacity. The entire bidding process, from the reverse auction to the issuance of the Letter of Award and the signing of the PPA, was completed in under five months. Reliance Power has also submitted a Performance Bank Guarantee of INR 378 crore (US$ 44 million) to SECI.
