BrightNight switches on first phase of 115 MW hybrid wind-solar power project in India

BrightNight has commissioned the first phase of a 115 MW hybrid wind-solar project located about 500 acres in Dharashiv, Southern Maharashtra, India.

The project utilizes cutting-edge wind and solar power generation technologies, supported by BrightNight’s proprietary AI-driven PowerAlpha platform. It has already begun supplying solar energy to the grid, with hybrid power integration expected to follow soon. Optima Maharashtra is set to significantly contribute to the State’s goal of deriving 40% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. The facility will produce sufficient clean, dispatchable energy to power approximately 230,000 homes annually while reducing carbon emissions by around 225,000 tons.

To advance BrightNight’s gigawatt-scale renewable energy portfolio in India, Philippines-based ACEN Corp., a subsidiary of the Ayala Group, committed US$ 250 million to BrightNight India in 2023. BrightNight recently finalized a power purchase agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co., to deliver hybrid wind-solar energy. Additionally, the company secured significant tenders from NTPC and NHPC to supply the firm with dispatchable renewable energy.
