Envision Energy has installed the first EN-226/8.X MW wind turbine for REE Group’s 128 MW Vinh Long nearshore wind project in Vinh Long Province, Vietnam.
Envision is supplying 16 EN-226/8.X MW wind turbines for the two Vinh Long projects, marking the Chinese turbine manufacturer’s first international offshore wind installation. The first turbine was installed in less than seven days, while the second was erected in under five days. The installation work has been carried out amid Vietnam’s heavy-rainfall season and strong winds, with typhoons and limited availability of installation resources creating additional logistical challenges. Envision signed the turbine supply agreement with project developer REE Group in January 2026, and the first equipment was delivered five months later. The EN-226 platform has been adapted for nearshore applications, with its relatively lightweight nacelle and maintenance-focused design intended to facilitate installation and long-term operation at coastal sites.
The Vinh Long development consists of two projects: the 48 MW V1-3 Phase II project and the 80 MW V1-5&6 Phase II project. Installation of the 16 wind turbines is progressing sequentially, alongside ongoing construction activities across the site. The development forms part of Vietnam’s efforts to expand wind power capacity under Power Development Plan VIII, contributing to the country’s growing deployment of higher-capacity turbines at coastal and nearshore sites. Installation is set to continue with the remaining 14 turbines, with both projects targeted for completion in late 2026.
