Neoen launches construction of Narrogin Wind Farm in Western Australia

Neoen has commenced construction of the 179 MW Narrogin Wind Farm in Western Australia after signing a long-term power purchase agreement with Synergy, while awarding Envision Energy the turbine supply and installation contract and a consortium of UGL and CPB Contractors the balance-of-plant works. 

Synergy, Western Australia's largest electricity retailer and a State Government-owned utility, has signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Neoen that will support the state's goal of sourcing 82% of electricity in the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) from renewable energy by 2030. Following the agreement, Neoen has issued notices to proceed to Envision Energy for the supply and installation of wind turbines, and to a UGL–CPB Contractors consortium (both part of the CIMIC Group) for the balance-of-plant works. Situated on the traditional lands of the Wilman Noongar people, near the towns of Narrogin and Williams, about 200 km southeast of Perth, the project will feature 23 EN182-7.8 MW wind turbines connected to the SWIS through Western Power's existing 220 kV transmission network. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to supply around 3% of the SWIS's annual electricity demand, producing enough renewable energy to power nearly 100,000 homes across Western Australia each year.

The Narrogin Wind Farm will further strengthen Neoen's presence in Western Australia, increasing the company's renewable energy portfolio in the state to 903 MW in operation or under construction, representing investments exceeding AU$2 billion. The development is expected to create more than 250 construction jobs and around 15 permanent operational roles, while also delivering long-term benefits through a neighbour benefit scheme and an annual community benefit-sharing programme to support local initiatives across the Wheatbelt region.
