Atmos Renewables announced the construction of its 470 MW Parron Maam Marang Farm located north of the Badgingarra National Park, approximately 200 km north of Perth in the north-eastern wheatbelt region of Western Australia.
The project in the Shire of Dandaragan, approximately 200 kilometres north of Perth, is expected to support around 400 jobs at peak construction and 15-20 ongoing operations and maintenance roles. Local workers will be prioritised where possible.
The wind farm will have up to 78 wind turbine generators (WTGs) capable of producing up to 470 MW. The area encompasses ~8,400 ha of agricultural land and the site is exposed to some of the best wind capacity factors in the southern hemisphere.
The project includes a commitment to spend more than AUD700 million (US$492.8 million) with Australian and New Zealand businesses and suppliers.
Additionally, a Community Benefit Fund will provide AUD470,000 (US$330,000) annually to support initiatives that improve life in the Shire of Dandaragan and surrounding region.
Parron Maam Marang Farm will co-exist with existing farming activities and supply renewable electricity under a long-term agreement with Synergy. Atmos will own the project through construction and operate it once complete. The project is expected to be operational by the end of 2028.
