Enviromena has started construction of two solar farm projects, supported by the UK government’s Contracts for Difference (CfD), in Shropshire, England.
The Rock Farm site near Ludlow and the Steeraway site near Telford together deliver a total solar capacity of 90 MWp. Backed by the government-supported CfD scheme, both projects were acquired by Enviromena in mid-2025. Installation of solar modules is scheduled for early summer, with both sites expected to become operational by the end of 2026.
In total, nearly 125,000 solar modules are to be installed across both sites, and once operational, the projects are expected to generate nearly 90,000MWh of clean electricity annually. The projects are expected to power around 33,000 UK homes each year, while avoiding more than 15,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, making a meaningful contribution to both national decarbonisation targets and the expansion of domestic energy generation.
Beyond producing renewable energy, the projects will also provide environmental benefits, such as enhancing biodiversity and implementing landscaping features that help blend the sites into the surrounding area while promoting local wildlife habitats. The Shropshire developments are part of a broader portfolio of solar and energy storage projects underway across the UK and Europe, with construction on more than 100 MWp of additional projects expected to begin this summer. At present, Enviromena manages close to 400 MWp of renewable energy assets and has a development pipeline exceeding 3 GW.
