Bute Energy has appointed civil engineering firm Knights Brown as Civils Balance of Plant partner for the Twyn Hywel Energy Park located about 2km north-west of Caerphilly.
Knights Brown will be responsible for designing and constructing the access roads, turbine foundations, and other essential civil engineering infrastructure required for the development of the onshore wind project situated on the boundary between Caerphilly and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The project is expected to generate about £1.6 million per year in business rates, amounting to approximately £64 million over its 40-year operational lifespan. In addition, the energy park will establish a community benefit fund of up to £704,000 annually throughout the same period. Twyn Hywel Energy Park will feature 14 wind turbines, each with a maximum blade tip height of 200 metres, and will have a total generation capacity of up to 92.4MW.
