Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (Eletrobras) has started test operations of the 123 MW Fortim Wind Complex, before entering into commercial operation.
The project features of 41 wind turbines, 3 MW each, supplied Nordex, spread in 2,365 hectares (5,844 acres) in the municipality of Fortim, Ceara state. The Fortim wind complex is composed of five special purpose entities -- 21 MW Sao Januario, 30 MW Nossa Senhora de Fatima, 27 MW Jandaia, 21 MW Sao Clemente, and 24 MW Jandai.
Fortim wind complex owned by Brasil Ventos, a subsidiary of domestic utility Furnas Centrais Eletricas SA, has secured during the A-5 new energy auction held in December 2011.
