Grupo Ecoener SAU has signed two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Edeeste for 96 MWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the Dominican Republic. Edeeste will purchase approximately 192 GWh per year from Ecoener's solar farms located in La Romana province. The PPAs are expected to generate revenues of US$17 million per year for Ecoener.
The Cumayasa I and Cumayasa II solar farms, with capacities of 60 MWp and 36 MWp respectively, will generate the contracted electricity. Ecoener obtained the definitive concessions for these projects in November and December 2020. The electricity supply is scheduled to commence on December 1, 2023.
The PPAs with Edeeste will support the Dominican Republic's renewable energy goals and help to increase the country's solar power capacity. Ecoener has more than 1.1 GW of renewable energy assets in operation or under development in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Mexico, and Brazil.
