The National Energy Commission (CNE) of the Dominican Republic has started the commercial operation of its 50 MW/ 80 MWp solar photovoltaic project located in the province of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
The El Soco solar farm is expected to generate up to 130 million kWh of clean power annually, which will help save more than 60,000 tons of CO2 emissions per annum. The project´s investment is around US$90 million. Additionally, the project will lead to the creation of 400 new jobs in the region.
