Downing Renewable Developments (DRD) has secured planning consent for the Limes Farm Solar Park, a 20MW solar photovoltaic project located in Bourne, Lincolnshire. Once operational, the facility is expected to generate enough renewable energy to power approximately 5,000 homes annually.
The solar farm is designed to coexist with ongoing sheep grazing, allowing the landowner to maintain agricultural activities while diversifying income sources. DRD has committed to providing free domestic solar panel installations for up to 80 local homes and contributing £100,000 to Bourne Town Council for local projects. The development emphasizes landscape and biodiversity, aiming to minimize environmental impact and support local ecosystems. This initiative is part of DRD's broader 6GW UK renewable development pipeline, which includes battery energy storage systems and other solar projects nationwide.
